SAMUEL AND STEPHEN JOHANNESSEN PRESENT
Multiplicity: Figures, Memory and Landscape
A large-scale exhibition shaped by family history, memory, landscape, and roots across continents — from Norway to the streets of Oakland, California, and cultural echoes reaching toward Congo.

About the Exhibition
Multiplicity: Figures, Memory and Landscape brings together the practices of brothers Stephen Johannessen and Samuel Johannessen.
The exhibition is not built as a traditional wall show, but as a spatial situation: a place where large paintings, sculptural forms, sound, image and movement create one shared environment.
The project moves between family history, Norwegian painting, migration, body, landscape and contemporary visual culture — carrying references from Oslo and Snarøya to Oakland, California, and Congo.
It is a show about memory, inheritance, place and the many identities that exist inside one image, one family and one room.
